Accredited SFIA training
While all the resources you need are available on the web site, we also suggest you consider the benefits of training.
The SFIA Foundation accredits both SFIA training and SFIA training providers. Training in the SFIA framework and its use is the best way to gain a good understanding of the framework and an insight into how it can be used effectively to deliver real benefits in enhancing the capability of an organisation through the management of the skills of its staff.
Live training led by an Accredited SFIA Consultant
Good online training courses are an effective solution and we also suggest you consider the benefits of live training (virtual or face-to-face) led by an Accredited SFIA Consultant.
Some of the advantages that can enhance your understanding and practical application of the framework.
- working directly with an experienced consultant provides deep insights into SFIA's core principles and methodology - knowledge that extends beyond any specific implementation tools to ensure lasting organisational value.
- your trainer can adapt the content delivery to match your organisation's specific needs, answering questions in real-time and exploring relevant scenarios from your workplace. This foundational understanding of SFIA enables informed decisions about how best to apply the framework, whether through manual processes or various digital solutions.
- an experienced consultant brings practical examples of how SFIA has been successfully implemented, including common challenges and proven solutions. They can share valuable lessons learned, implementation strategies, and best practices that help you understand not just what SFIA is, but why and how it works - essential knowledge that complements any tools you might choose to use.
- the hands-on nature of live training helps participants better grasp practical aspects like skills profiling and applying SFIA levels. Through guided exercises and group discussions, you'll develop a deeper understanding of SFIA's underlying principles, enabling you to make the most of whatever implementation approach you select.
- networking with other participants and sharing experiences creates a collaborative learning environment that enhances understanding and builds valuable professional connections in the SFIA community.
Questions to clarify with a prospective trainer

- what hands-on exercises do you include, and how do they help participants practice real-world SFIA skills assessment and levelling?
- beyond the core Foundation syllabus, what additional insights will participants gain from your experience?
- how do you ensure participants understand the key concepts of responsibility levels and skills profiling through practical examples?
- what methods do you use to help participants connect SFIA concepts to their everyday work context?
- can you share examples of how you make the Foundation material engaging and memorable for different types of learners?
