The SFIA Framework Foundation Test is designed to validate your knowledge and understanding of the SFIA Framework and the use of SFIA for managing and developing skills.

The test comprises 45 multiple-choice questions, covering the following topics:

  • The Context for SFIA
  • SFIA levels of responsibility
  • SFIA professional skills
  • SFIA Generic Attributes & Behavioural Factors
  • Knowledge, skill and competency
  • Applications of SFIA in skills management
  • SFIA skills profiling
  • The SFIA Foundation

Guidance

When a question asks you to "Choose the best answer," this means:

  • Read ALL options carefully - even if the first option seems correct
  • Look for the option that most directly addresses the question and aligns with SFIA principles
  • Multiple options may seem partially correct - select the most accurate and complete one
  • Base your answer on SFIA reference material, not just intuition or experience with other frameworks

The best answer will align with SFIA's core principles as described in the official SFIA reference pages.

Accessing the test

The test is hosted externally on ClassMarker.  The test will open in a new window and you will return to the SFIA Foundation website on completion.

We ask you to confirm that you're a genuine test taker, then you'll start with the first question. 

You should allow 25-40 minutes to take the test.  Good luck!
