The Federation for Informatics Professions in Health and Care (FEDIP) is the only public register for all informatics professionals in the UK dedicated to delivering better health and care through the advanced use of technology. Now, more than ever, we need to have our NHS & Social Care colleagues working in digital being recognised for the life-changing work they do to support front-line staff. By evidencing and validating your skill and knowledge, we can begin to shape the face of digital transformation in health and care, increase the public’s awareness of informatics and create a better healthcare system for you, your family and for society.

About FEDIP The Federation for Informatics Professions in Health and Care
FEDIP was established in 2016, with a mission to professionalise the digital data technology and informatics community in the UK in Health and Social Care.
FEDIP is a collaboration between the multiple Professional Bodies and fully recognises the importance of each of the individual Professional Bodies in the development and education of the disciplines they represent and serve.
Current member bodies are;
- Association of Professional Healthcare Analysts (APHA)
- The Chartered Institute for IT (BCS)
- The Chartered Library and Information Association (CILIP)
- Faculty of Clinical Informatics (FCI)
- Institute of Health Records and Information Management (IHRIM) &
- Society for innovation, technology and modernisation (SOCITM)
FEDIP’s core purpose is to professionalise the Health and Care Informatics workforce in the UK.
Its aim is to ensure that people working in digital health maintain the highest standards for the safety and protection of the public as well as for assurance of their own professional development.
FEDIP and SFIA
FEDIP has used SFIA to create the standards for its professional register. Within the health and care informatics communities we will be mapping the competencies across job descriptions allowing individuals to identify relevant CPD and other educational opportunities to match their career aspirations and to maintain their core competencies. It will allow our member professional bodies to work more effectively together by having an underpinning common language to describe skills.
