Why don’t you just tell me exactly what to do?
SFIA is a framework and doesn’t set absolute rules. Instead it is based on some key principles.
- This means it’s flexible and can be applied to a wide range of organisations and situations. It doesn’t act as a barrier to doing new things in new ways.
However, this flexibility does mean that you need to think about - and take ownership for - the specific ways you use it.
- You can learn about the key principles of SFIA and consider how SFIA will work with the opportunities you are exploring
- You can find examples, checklists and other tools to help you ask the right questions, and understand your options. However, you know your organisation best, so it’s up to you to consider your options and then decide on your approach.
You can learn from others' experiences to save time and effort in your own organization.
- While there are no one-size-fits-all solutions, exploring approaches used by other organizations can provide valuable insights and inspiration.
- Thoughtful adoption, based on your own knowledge and experience, is key to effectively addressing your unique business opportunities and pain points. Use what works for you and design your own solution.
