#1586 Consider a skill for AI Engineering change request pending
Is there a case for a discrete SFIA skill describing AI Engineering?
The proposition is that designing, building, deploying and operating AI systems is becoming a recognisable area of professional practice, distinct from general software engineering and from data science. Examples raised included end-to-end model lifecycle, monitoring and evaluation, and the engineering of AI-enabled features in products.
Is there a case for a new skill, or would the need be better met through enhanced guidance and activities on existing engineering and data skills (such as PROG, SWDN, DATS, DENG, MLNG)?
