2021 DDaT Roles - SFIA skills profiles

A listing of the 156 UK Government Digital Service digital, data and technology (DDaT) roles. These have been mapped to SFIA skills using the definitions of DDaT roles from the UK Government website.

Important Guidance Information

The following key points must be recognised:

The DDAT Role descriptions on the UK Gov. website must be considered the master data
These profiles have matched SFIA skills to DDaT Skills for the roles as best possible
- We have, of course, not added SFIA skills for what we believe the roles should be
- We have, however, pitched the level at which we believe the DDaT Team are trying to convey, albeit that the DDaT definitions are less robust or rigorous than SFIA definitions.
- It may not be the case, therefore, that skills can be compared across public and private sector as equivalent.
The DDaT Team may update the DDaT Roles throughout 2021 and 2022

A mapping of each role, as defined by the DDaT Team, is mapped to the appropriate SFIA skills and level in the spreadsheet here.

This spreadsheet shows the current state at January 2021 and reflects how the DDaT roles had changed since the previous mapping.

Important note - the SFIA skill to role mappings are illustrative.

Previously, the UK GDS advised that the DDaT Roles were illustrative and should form the basis of local tailoring by Government Departments to ensure the roles fitted their needs. It is presumed that this advice is still valid.

These role definitions may not be suitable for use outside of UK Central Government Departments.
