Updated and extended illustrative SFIA skills profiles
Over the past few years we created a simple set of example skills profiles to help people understand how SFIA can be used to describe real roles. What began as a small experiment has become one of the most widely used resources on the SFIA site.
We’ve now released an updated version.
Key updates include:
- the collection has grown to 70+ example skills profiles
- refreshed page layout on the website
- updated downloadable interactive PDF to make browsing and navigation easier
- clearer structure so users can quickly see how SFIA skills combine to describe common role families and job titles
This resource continues to be especially useful for employers starting to use SFIA. It provides practical examples of how SFIA skills can be combined when defining roles, structuring teams, or exploring career paths.
- As with all SFIA resources, these profiles are illustrative examples rather than prescriptions. Organisations adapt them to their own context, roles and responsibilities.
- You can explore the updated page and download the material here

SFIA 10 Webinar/Workshops - Your chance to influence the future of SFIA
Following the publication of SFIA 9 in October 2024, we're looking ahead to SFIA 10, planned for Q4 2027.
Our commitment to continuous improvement
- We held a workshop during Australia SFIA Week to gather ideas for SFIA 10. We're now opening change requests in January and hosting webinars for everyone.
- Each session includes a brief overview of the SFIA 10 development process, followed by open discussion. You can contribute your ideas, listen, or simply observe—no pressure to speak. You can share by typing or in person.
- We welcome input from individuals, employers, technical specialists, industry leaders, and SFIA Accredited Consultants and Practitioners.
- Your feedback will inform the Design Authority's decisions on SFIA 10's scope.
