Approved SFIA Training Partner Terms
This professional standard define the expectations for organisations and individuals delivering SFIA training. They ensure that all SFIA training maintains high levels of quality and accurately represents the SFIA Framework and the operation of the SFIA Foundation Internal training by SFIA Corporate users should comply with this standard as a reference for good practice.
Introduction
These operating terms define the conditions under which organisations may deliver SFIA Training as an Approved SFIA Training Partner and describe their training offering as Approved SFIA Training.
The SFIA Foundation will continue to refine these terms to ensure that SFIA Training itself improves to enable more effective use of SFIA by the attendees..
Definition of SFIA Training and Scope of these licence terms
For the purposes of this standard, SFIA Training means any learning activity that materially explains, interprets, or enables the application of the SFIA Framework, including its levels of responsibility, skills, attributes, or use in role design, assessment, or workforce development, regardless of delivery format or commercial model.
These terms govern all SFIA Training activity delivered by the training partner.
Approval and onboarding
SFIA Partners may only provide SFIA Training after obtaining formal written approval from the SFIA Foundation.
Before offering any SFIA Training Course, Partners must:
- notify The SFIA Foundation of their intention to provide SFIA Training
- submit all training materials, including presentations, handouts, exercises and assessments
- allow sufficient time for review and approval
No SFIA Training may be delivered until written approval is obtained.
Approved Training Services
The SFIA Foundation may approve specific categories of SFIA training, including:
- SFIA foundation understanding
- Introduction to SFIA for practitioners
- Introduction to SFIA for consultants
- SFIA Assessor Training
The approved syllabi and learning objectives for these are published separately by the SFIA Foundation.
Use of SFIA assets and branding
Following approval, the SFIA Training Partner may:
- use the SFIA Training Provider logo
- advertise as an "SFIA Training Partner"
- market and deliver approved SFIA training offerings
All use of SFIA logos and references must comply with SFIA Foundation branding guidance.
Instructor requirements, Accredited Consultants and subcontracting
Training must be delivered by licensed SFIA Accredited Consultants, and Training Partners remain accountable for all training delivery.
Instructors must:
- have sufficient time and resources to plan and prepare for course delivery
- Maintain their knowledge of the subject up-to-date and maintain their teaching skills
- Ensure that they are aware of any regulation or approval requirements, syllabus changes, changes to the SFIA Framework or operation of the SFIA Foundation
Training delivery obligations
Approved SFIA training must be delivered in the form and scope in which it was approved.
Substantial changes to material or delivery approach must be submitted for re-approval prior to use.
Reporting and record keeping
Training Partners must provide quarterly activity reports in the format specified by The SFIA Foundation, including:
- dates and locations of training delivered
- mode of delivery
- name of trainer and trainer status
- number of attendees per training
- request an invoice for fees due
Royalties and fees
SFIA Training Partners must:
- pay the applicable the per-delegate training fee on a quarterly basis
- maintain accurate records of all training activity
Training fees and royalty arrangements are published separately by the SFIA Foundation.
Audit, review and verification
The Training Partner agrees to:
- allow SFIA Foundation representatives to attend training for review purposes
- provide access to training materials and feedback records
- cooperate with audits and reviews as requested
Misuse and avoidance
Training Partners must not offer SFIA-based training outside of the approval framework, including non-accredited or rebranded training, as a means of avoiding fees due to the SFIA Foundation or approval requirements.
SFIA Training Partner status must not be references in connection with non-approved training.
Training vs Accreditation
SFIA Training Partners must ensure that attendees clearly understand that their attendance on training may contribute to a subsequent application for accreditation but that the training, itself, is not the accreditation.
Credentials and Certificates
Note: Approved SFIA Training results in a SFIA Foundation issued Digital Badge (on successful completion).
- No credential other than those issued by the SFIA Foundation may be given for approved SFIA Training.
- No credential, such as an attendance certificate, may contain the SFIA logo or give the impression of approval such as "SFIA Accredited Training Partner" unless it is approved training.
The claim of being a SFIA Accredited Training Partner must not appear on any attendance credential or in marketing of non-accredited SFIA training.
The SFIA logo may not be used in any certificate or credential without prior written approval from the SFIA Foundation.
Suspension, withdrawal and termination
The SFIA Foundation may withdraw or suspend approval to provide SFIA Training where a Training Partner does not comply with these Licence or Operating Terms.
Approval Process
Before offering any SFIA Training Course, Partners must complete the following approval process:
Pre-Approval Requirements
- Notification: Notify the SFIA Foundation of your intention to provide SFIA Training
- Course Submission: Submit all training materials for each type of course, including:
- Course presentations
- Handouts and student materials
- Exercise materials and case studies
- Assessment materials (if applicable)
- Review Period: Allow time for the Foundation to review and approve materials
- Prohibition: Do not run any SFIA Training courses until written approval is obtained
