March 2022 - SFIA update

March 2022 - SFIA update

Webinar slides | SFIA conference | SFIA basic awareness training | Update on plans for 2022

Estimated reading time - 2 min, 4 secs.

Following on from the webinars held to share SFIA Foundation plans for 2022 - here's the latest update.

We held 4 global webinars

  • 2 webinars (different time zones) for SFIA Accredited Partners, Consultants and Practitioners
  • 2 webinars (different time zones) with an open invitation to the wider SFIA community.
  • In total - around 450 people from across the world registered for the webinars

In 2021 we published SFIA 8 and we also saw significant global growth in the use of SFIA.

  • The webinars gave an informal review of progress in 2021 and an overview of priorities for 2022.
  • The next steps are to progress the initiatives we discussed - and include your  contributions as much as possible.

At the webinars - we encouraged feedback / conversation using chat and we also experimented with real time, anonymous polling .

Your input to a SFIA Conference

  • The webinars confirmed that there is a lot of interest in a SFIA conference and SFIA webinars
  • Our current plan is to hold a virtual, “follow the sun”, conference in 2023 to allow full global participation
  • We have started investigations into a suitable platform
  • We do need your input on themes and topics for a conference. Please take a few minutes to share your ideas.

Basic education/awareness of the SFIA framework

  • We want to develop training material to provide basic SFIA education and awareness in an accessible and engaging style.
  • The aim is for the material to be used by individuals, employers, professional bodies, universities, colleges, SFIA Consultants, SFIA Practitioners etc.
  • This idea was very popular at the webinars
  • We have a small group now developing the target learning outcomes and considering how to deliver the learning material.
  • If you are able to help review material and test this approach please contact [email protected]
  • It's valuable to have input from both new and experienced SFIA users. We will also need some volunteers to take part in piloting the training material. This could be a good opportunity for you and others in your organisation to learn more about SFIA.

Summary of other community initiatives

  • Behavioural factors - this work is progressing. We will arrange some time to share progress and test the proposals.
  • Sharing information on who uses SFIA - we were delighted with the positive response to this. We will develop some suggestions on how to progress this initiative. We need input from the wider SFIA community to make this happen.
  • Foundational digital skills - feedback at the webinars shows there is an appetite for doing this. Our plan is to set up a working group to share ideas and resources.
  • The webinar slides provide some further details on these topics and also semantic analysis, a SFIA API and framework interoperability.

Please get inn touch with ideas or questions .
