The Australian Cyber Workforce Playbook published
The Australian Cyber Workforce Playbook, developed by the Executive Cyber Council’s Cyber Workforce Working Group, stands as a significant resource for advancing sovereign capability under Shield 5 of the 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy. It demonstrates a firm commitment to cultivating a resilient, purpose-driven cyber workforce that will reinforce economic stability, foster innovation, and promote diversity within the sector.
The Playbook is a resource developed by industry, for industry, to address a range of needs for human resources professionals and technical leaders, offering guidance on organisational design, workforce development, cyber roles, and skills-building. It outlines entry pathways for new talent and highlights the importance of diversity and inclusion in the cyber sector. Source
SFIA as Australia's preferred national cyber skills framework
"Adopting a global framework like the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) can give organisations a head start, by providing a comprehensive and standardised language for describing and benchmarking skills and competencies across various IT and digital roles, including cyber security."

Papua New Guinea adopts countrywide SFIA Licence
We're pleased to announce that Papua New Guinea has implemented a countrywide SFIA licence, enabling organisations across the nation to access and apply the framework in their workforce development initiatives.
This adoption reinforces SFIA's role as a truly global framework, supporting skills development and professional growth in diverse contexts and economies.
New Resource: Licensed SFIA Software Providers
We've launched a dedicated page listing organisations officially licensed to develop and sell SFIA-based software tools and solutions.
Why this matters:
Only these licensed providers have authorisation to integrate SFIA into their commercial offerings. When selecting SFIA-based tools, organisations should only use authorised providers to ensure proper implementation of the framework and maintain the integrity of skills assessment and development processes.

Reminder: Professional Standards for mapping learning to SFIA
As organisations continue to align learning and development with SFIA, we want to remind the community of our professional standards for mapping learning content to SFIA skills.
Who these standards apply to:
- Training providers mapping courses to SFIA
- Certification bodies aligning credentials with SFIA skills
- Learning catalogue services offering SFIA-tagged content
Why these standards matter:
- They promote consistency, accuracy, and clarity in describing how learning relates to SFIA skills
- Clear, evidence-based mappings help learners, providers, and employers see realistic skill outcomes
- They maintain SFIA's integrity as a trusted, community-governed framework
- They provide practical guidance for creating meaningful learning-to-skills connections

SFIA 10 Consultation now open
Following the publication of SFIA 9 in October 2024, we're already looking ahead to SFIA 10, planned for Q4 2027.
Our commitment to continuous improvement
As part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, we held a workshop during Australia SFIA Week to collate ideas for updating SFIA. The valuable input from participants has informed our decision to open change requests for SFIA 10 at this early stage.
This approach allows us to gather feedback and suggestions from the global SFIA community throughout the development cycle, ensuring the framework continues to evolve in response to emerging skills needs and industry requirements.
We welcome input from practitioners, organisations, and industry leaders on proposed changes and additions that will shape SFIA 10.
